As part of its of its Warner Bros Archive Collection, WB has just announced the availability of the gory 1970 Brit sci-fi flick NO BLADE OF GRASS on DVD. Directed by acting legend Cornel Wilde, the film takes place after an environmental catastrophe destroys civilization. A couple (Nigel Davenport and Jean Wallace) try to lead their family to safety in a savage world, but sometimes a flight for salvation can become a journey to damnation! Raw, uncompromising and violent, the film was years ahead of its time. Rare screenings of the film over the years have been eagerly sought out by fans of extreme cinema, and its now available on home video in a full, uncut remastered 16x9 edition. The Archive Collection is also making available the 1981 slasher pic NIGHT SCHOOL, with Rachel Ward making her “scream” debut. The film will also be presented remastered and 16x9. A batch of “60s Psycho-Delic” includes Antonio Margeriti’s Gamma Station sci-fi epic THE SNOW DEVILS (1967), producer Herman Cohen’s long-awaited shocker BLACK ZOO (1963) starring the great Michael Gough and THE COUCH (1962), from a story by Robert Bloch. A duo of “Hammer It Home” features from Britain’s famous house of horror, gives us Freddie Francis’ psychological thriller HYSTERIA (1965) and Roy Ward Baker’s space adventure MOON ZERO TWO (1969) (previously available as a Best Buy Exclusive double feature disc with WHEN DINOSAURS RULED THE EARTH). Screen Archives Entertainment already has up for pre-order a few long awaited horror classics from MGM’s line of MOD DVD releases. THE BLACK SLEEP (1956): The masters of classic horror (Basil Rathbone, John Carradine, Bela Lugosi and Lon Chaney, Jr.) gather together and meet in a spooky old house in which a crazed scientist creates frightening human mutants. QUEEN OF BLOOD (1966): When an alien ship crash-lands on Mars, a rescue ship sent to look for survivors. They find just one: an alien vampire, who starts killing the crew by sucking their blood. DAUGHTERS OF SATAN (1972): An antique dealer living in Manila falls victim to an ancient Satanic curse -- the result of his wife joining a cult. Seeking help from a local historian, he disbands the coven and rescues her. Releasing has just announced CORRUPTION,
the rarely seen 1968 shocking British feature starring Peter Cushing
as a mad surgeon, which will hit Blu-ray and DVD on September 10. The
Grindhouse Releasing special edition of CORRUPTION coincides with the
legendary Hammer Films star's 100th birthday, and will be preceded by
a series of theatrical playdates. Grindhouse will also release the recent
Midnite cult favorite AN AMERICAN HIPPIE IN ISRAEL
which will also hit Blu-ray and DVD on September 10. Four additional
titles will follow in late 2013 and late 2014: Sergio Sollima's THE
BIG GUNDOWN, THE SWIMMER, starring
Burt Lancaster, Duke Mitchell's GONE WITH THE
POPE and S.F. Brownrigg's SCUM OF THE EARTH
(a.k.a. POOR WHITE TRASH PART 2). According to co-founder Bob Murawski,
the company's entire back catalog will also appear in new Blu-ray editions

Pebbles Court, the better part of Homesville. He's the victim of the
experimental drug Vimuville, marketed as a "dietary supplement",
which has apparently malfunctioned. He arrives too late to warn the
population of Homesville against trying the pill that was dropped in
their mailbox by a respectable pharmaceutical company. Unfortunately,
the folks of Homesville are suckers for freebies and they too start
deforming, mutating and exploding. (

Entertainment will distribute titles from Exclusive Media’s Hammer
library in the U.S., which means they will eventually be released on
Blu-ray disc. According to Steve Nickerson, President of Millennium
Entertainment, “Hammer is one of the most renowned and beloved
film brands in the world and we are thrilled to bring the Hammer Films
library to U.S. fans.” With this new distribution deal, a number
of Hammer classics will be made available to the public in new configurations
for the first time in almost 10 years. With a multi-tiered approach,
a full release schedule is planned to provide high end, limited edition
Blu-rays and Collector’s Sets to the loyal horror fan over the
next several years. The releases will commence April 2nd with DVD release
of the “Hammer Horror 3 Feature Film Set” featuring DRACULA:
PRINCE OF DARKNESS (1966), THE LEGEND OF
THE SEVEN GOLDEN VAMPIRES (1974) and FRANKENSTEIN
CREATED WOMAN (1967). “We are really pleased to be in business
with Millennium to bring the newly restored titles from our library
to the United States in HD for the first time,” said Peter Naish,

when a new family moves in next door with three children for Celia to
play with. But her parents forbid her to play with the children, because
the parents are members of the Communist Party. It all comes to a head
when, because of a national plague of rabbits, the Victoria State government
orders a turning over of all domestic rabbits. When her uncle confiscates
her beloved pet rabbit, Celia’s world explodes with terrifying

Bros has officially announced that they will be releasing HOUSE
OF DARK SHADOWS (1970), the feature film version of the popular
TV serial involving a vampire's quest for a cure to marry a lovely mortal,
and its follow-up NIGHT OF DARK SHADOWS
(1971), about a man and his wife moving into a home and finding themselves
plagued by spirits of his ancestors that used to be witches, on both
Blu-Ray and DVD. The street date is October 30, 2012. The retail price
for the Blu-Rays will be $19.98 each, while the DVDs will be $14.96
each. NIGHT will be the standard theatrical version and not a restored
director’s cut. Both titles are expected to include their trailers.

school art teacher (Suzy Kendall) claims to have seen the killer –
who looks like Satan himself – and she decides to set a trap for
him using herself as bait. A British flavored giallo, and a ripping
good whodunit. The film also stars Leslie-Ann Downe (COUNTESS DRACULA),
Freddie Jones (FRANKENSTEIN MUST BE DESTROYED) and Frank Finley (THE

Universal
has just revealed the cover art for their upcoming Blu-Ray release of
ABBOTT AND COSTELLO MEET FRANKENSTEIN,
which has a street date of 8/28/12. The world of baggage handlers Chick
Young (Bud Abbott) and Wilbur Grey (Lou Costello) is turned upside down
when they receive the remains of Dracula (Bela Lugosi) and the Frankenstein
monster (Glenn Strange) bound for the House of Horrors museum. When
Dracula and the monster escape, complete chaos ensues as Chick and Wilbur
get mixed up in an evil plot to switch Wilbur’s brain with Frankenstein’s
and are aided by Larry Talbot (Lon Chaney, Jr.), who turns into The
Wolf Man when the moon is full! This Blu-Ray package (which includes
DVD + Digital Copy) will contain bonus material of the featurette, “Abbott
and Costello Meet the Monsters”, the Feature Commentary with Film
Historian Gregory W. Mank and Production Photographs. 
On
July 3, another Vincent Price horror classic makes it was to DVD when
Sony releases THE MAD MAGICIAN (1954) under
it “Columbia Classics” banner. Price is at his terrifying
best as Gallico the Great, an inspired inventor of magic acts who longs
to perform his creations himself. When he finally gets his chance, the
production is closed by Gallico’s cruel manager, who wants a rival
magician to perform Gallico’s greatest trick, The Lady and the
Buzz Saw. An enraged Gallico turns into a homicidal maniac, taking out
his victims with the same methods he used to create his illusions. The
film also stars Mary Murphy, Eva Gabor and Patrick O’Neal (CHAMBER
OF HORRORS). Originally shown in 3-D, the DVD will be the flat version,
but presented widescreen anamorphic.

August 8th, Olive Films will release “one of the most requested
horror films”, THE BOOGENS (1981)
on both Blu-Ray and DVD. In a small town near Denver, two young men
begin to explore a long-abandoned old mine recently re-opened by a group
of miners. When one the men is discovered missing, his friends begin
a search that leads them to horrifying consequences. They’re all
unaware of the evil that’s been unleashed and soon, one by one,
a monster that no one has seen snatches up the townspeople. Suddenly,
the grisly truth is revealed and a young couple is forced to confront
the unknown in order to save their lives… and the entire town.

Macabro is proud to present the official director’s cut of Jess
Franco's outrageous and delirious COUNTESS PERVERSE.
Newly restored from a rare camera negative, this limited-edition DVD
arrives on June 12th with a S.R.P. of $24.99. In the 1973 film starring
Howard Vernon and Alice Arno, a pair of decadent and debauched aristocrats
turns their private island into a human hunting ground where they can
stalk their naked prey. As each victim is murdered, their carcass is
then cooked and fed to their guests; simply delicious! What the unsuspecting
visitors don't realize is that they will soon become the next evening’s
“meal”, eventually fighting for their lives in a shocking

June 26, Olive Films will release the 1973 British horror anthology
TALES THAT WITNESS MADNESS on both Blu-ray
and DVD. The film will be remastered in HD from a 35mm archival print.
Stroll down the corridors of a mental asylum, where your mind won’t
believe what your eyes see. In the tradition of TALES FROM THE CRYPT
and CREEPSHOW… this anthology of pulp horror tales, helmed by
the ever-reliable horror master, Freddie Francis (DR. TERROR’S
HOUSE OF HORRORS). The film features a quartet of eerie vignettes involving
four patients in the care of psychiatrist Donald Pleasance (HALLOWEEN),
who’s attempting to justify his strange theories to colleague,
Jack Hawkins (THEATRE OF BLOOD). The all-star cast includes Kim Novak,
Joan Collins, Peter McEnery and Suzy Kendall. One the same date, Olive
Films will also release William Castle’s THE
SPIRIT IS WILLING on both Blu-ray and DVD. The Blu-rays on both

to abduct unsuspecting female victims with their magic tricks for an

is releasing the 1967 circus horror classic BERSERK
as part of its “Screen Classics By Request” collection.
Joan Crawford stars as Monica Rivers, the owner of a traveling circus
plagued by a series of mysterious deaths. When a high-wire performer
becomes the first victim, he is replaced by Frank Hawkins (Ty Hardin),
an even more daring aerialist. But Frank's attentions to Monica make
her business manager, Dorando (Michael Gough), jealous. After Dorando
becomes the brutal killer's next victim, Police Superintendent Brooks

Films has just confirmed to us that they will be releasing the 1958
Paramount science fiction classic THE COLOSSUS
OF NEW YORK on DVD this August. Directed by Eugène Lourié
(THE GIANT BEHEMOTH, GORGO), the film stars Ross Martin, Otto Kruger,
John Baragrey and Mala Powers, and this will be the first time the tale
of a dead scientist who's brain is transplanted into that of a giant
robot has been given a legit home video release in the U.S. Olive Films
will also be working on a DVD release of the 1952 Paramount film THE
ATOMIC CITY, starring Gene Barry. More details to follow!

Films has surprised us with a May 3 street date for a blu-ray double
feature disc containing THE MAN WHO COULD CHEAT
DEATH and THE SKULL. This two-disc
collection is filled with suspense and terror as it features classic,
bone-chilling tales from two of the biggest horror powerhouse producers:
Hammer Studios and Amicus Productions. THE SKULL weaves a chilling tale
surrounding the real-life terrors of the Marquis de Sade. Featuring
outstanding performances by Peter Cushing and Christopher Lee, this
tale introduces Dr. Christopher Maitland (Cushing) who purchases the
infamous skull of the Marquis de Sade, a decision that he was warned
against by his good friend - and previous skull owner - Matthew Phillips
(Lee). The question is whether or not Dr. Maitland will live to regret
his decision. THE MAN WHO COULD CHEAT DEATH features a horror filled
tale starring Anton Diffring as Dr. Georges Bonnet, a man with a hideous
obsession to live forever all he needs are the glands of some very unwilling
donors. Also starring Christopher Lee and the beautiful horror legend
Hazel Court, this film is a suspense-filled ride for all who enjoy classic
horror cinema.
On
May 17, RaroVideo U.S. will release THE SECRET
OF DORIAN GRAY (1970) on DVD. Never before released on DVD in
the U.S., this is a 1970s classic Italian film restored to its original
splendor. In London, a wealthy, god-like, young man, Dorian Gray, loves
Sybil, an aspiring actress; thanks to her, he’s momentarily less
self-centered. He’s also sitting, scantily clad, for a portrait
painted by his ascot-wearing friend, Basil. When it’s done, Dorian
complains he’ll grow old while it stays unchanged – the
classic plight of the vain. On the same night, as if he has sold his
soul to the devil, exchanging vanity for morality, he ends it with Sybil,
and then accepts the seductive offer of a party’s hostess to sleep
with her. The next day, the painting looks slightly older. In horror
and fascination, Dorian hides it away and continues a life of degradation.
Over time, as the portrait becomes hideous, he’s unchanged by
his ever-increasing libidinal life; finally, he and Basil face the painting.
The exceptionally groovy score by Giuseppe De Luca enhances the seventies
milieu. The film stars Helmut Berger, Richard Todd, Herbert Lom, Marie
Liljedahl and Margaret Lee. DORIAN GRAY has been restored from the original
35mm negative and will include an interview with the assistant director
Maurizio Tanfani.

has just made CREATURES THE WORLD FORGOT
available as part of its “Screen Classics By Request” Collection.
This singular film from Hammer Studios, set in the Stone Age, has almost
no dialogue — the people speak in grunts — but it is strangely
effective. Focused on a tribe of cavemen, and specifically a pair of
twin brothers who become rivals for the leadership of the tribe following
the impact of a devastating earthquake, the human struggles are portrayed
fairly realistically (no dinosaurs roaming the earth). Directed by Don
Chaffey (JASON AND THE ARGONAUTS, ONE MILLION YEARS B.C.), whose ability
to craft an engaging, human story with mythical characters and beasts
was well-proven by the time he undertook this feature. Written by veteran
Hammer producer and writer Michael Carreras (THE SNORKEL, MANIAC, ONE
MILLION YEARS B.C.), and starring beautiful Julie Ege (THE LEGEND OF

looking for someone else. On the way home from work, she hitches a ride
with Dennis. Chris invites Dennis back to dinner in Sander’s house.
The three of them get along quite well together and Dennis asks to spend
the night. Chris realizes that there is more to Dennis than what’s
between his ears, and later in the night goes to check him out! Sander
discovers that his girlfriend has slept with Dennis and does not seem

Films recently announced that its future release slate includes the
slasher classic BLOODY BIRTHDAY (perhaps
best remembered for the before-she-was-famous topless dance of MTV star
Julie Brown) directed by Canadian exploitation auteur Ed Hunt. In a
recent interview recorded exclusively for this DVD, Hunt discusses his
entire career and the film was transferred from the original negative
in hi-definition, so this will be BLOODY BIRTHDAY as you’ve never
seen it before! Severin is also planning a DVD of John Lamond’s
Australian horror flick NIGHTMARES (aka
STAGE FRIGHT) and the disc will include an audio commentary with Lamond,
with the film being presented fully uncut and transferred in 2.35:1
from the original negative. Then there’s THE
BABY, truly one of the most bizarre films to come out of Hollywood
in the 1970s. Helmed by A-list director Ted Post (MAGNUM FORCE, BENEATH
THE PLANET OF THE APES), the original ads screamed, “What goes
on in this nursery isn’t for kids!” Again, expect a new
transfer from the original negative so you can fully enjoy the perverse

supernaturally skilled conjurer and his simian sidekick, the stars of
a small-time circus, must defeat a jealous rival and evil doctor to
stay together in the cult classic CARNIVAL MAGIC,

The late Al Adamson’s (DRACULA VS.
FRANKENSTEIN) G-rated talking monkey movie has been the source of rumors
and wild speculation for nearly 30 years. Some insist only a single
print was ever made, while others claim the film never saw the light
of day until a copy was “found” in Adamson’s Florida
home shortly after he was murdeed. (
