Two 70s Horror Classics to Arrive on DVD!

MGM's upcoming DVD release (August) of the 1976 Dan Curtis horror film, BURNT OFFERINGS will include a commentary track with director Curtis, star Karen Black, and writer William F. Nolan. The commentary is reported to have some interesting anecdotes, never-before-told stories and some occasionally uproarious comments. The disc should be featuring a gorgeous new 16x9, 1.85:1 transfer as this was what was shown to the actors during the session. As far as extras, there will probably be a trailer and there's talk of a still gallery. The deleted opening sequences no longer exist, so naturally they will not be included. From the Fangoria website: Adding to its long list of exciting genre titles, Synapse Films just signed a deal to release THE INCREDIBLE MELTING MAN on DVD. William Sachs’ 1977 cult classic features early gruesome makeup FX work by Rick Baker, and brief appearances by B-movie starlet Rainbeaux Smith and future Oscar-winning director Jonathan Demme. Since the rights were just acquired, no supplement specifics have been confirmed; “We’re going to try to get in touch with Rick Baker,” says Synapse’s Don May Jr., “and see what we can come up with.” A release in late 2003 is planned.

This past week, Blue Underground recorded an audio commentary for Paramount's forthcoming release of the Hammer Classic CAPTAIN KRONOS - VAMPIRE HUNTER. Writer/producer/director Brian Clemens, actress Caroline Munro and journalist Jonathan Sothcott recorded the commentary on the 17th of September. Said Sothcott, "Much like the commentary for THE VAMPIRE LOVERS, this one can be chalked up to George Reis. People might not know it, but George is the Hammer DVD fan's best friend since Bill Lustig. When George puts his mind to it, he makes the studios listen. I salute him." DVD Drive-In will also be announcing another upcoming Hammer DVD with a new commentary, so stay tuned.
