"Greydon Clark Drive-In Double Feature" From VCI!

April 27, VCI will release a “Greydon Clark Drive-In Double Feature”
of HI-RIDERS (1978) and THE
BAD BUNCH (1976). Starring Mel Ferrer, Stephen McNally, Darby Hinton,

BAD BUNCH features violence and racial tension in a fast-moving tale of prejudice

transfers, and bonus features include a Q&A with Darby Hinton and Diane
Peterson about the making of HI-RIDERS and a Q&A with director Greydon Clark.
The SRP is $14.99. On the same date, VCI will be releasing a “Euro-Fantastico”
double feature of THE BLACK COBRA (starring Klaus
Kinski and Adrian Hoven) and NO SURVIVORS PLEASE,
as well as Rory Calhoun in THUNDER IN CAROLINA

"Children" DVD Recall!
VCI
Entertainment President Robert A. Blair has announced an immediate recall on
the 35th Anniversary Edition of CHILDREN SHOULDN’T
PLAY WITH DEAD THINGS – EXHUMED EDITION. (Item # 8509). VCI has
just discovered a huge error was made in the new special edition DVD of this
cult classic, which had just begun hitting the street. Apparently a last second
internal miscommunication sent the wrong DVD master to the replicator. The master
that made it thru was unfortunately cut by several minutes and had unfinished
video corrections. Thankfully VCI’s loyal customers, and fans of the film
were kind enough to notify us of this mishap and Blair decided on an immediate
recall to fix the matter. Mr. Blair made the following statement: “We
pride ourselves in our DVD productions and this is embarrassing! When a mistake
like this happens we fix it immediately. For over 30 years VCI has stood by
our mission statement to bring our consumers the best in quality from our line
of classic and cult films.” VCI will begin an immediate recall of the
problem DVD’s and will replace them as soon as the corrected DVD master
can be replicated. All direct wholesale and retail customers should contact
a VCI Customer Service Rep by calling 800-331-4077, emailing to vci@vcient.com,
or faxing to 918-254-6117 to make arrangements. VCI will be posting instructions
on their website within a few days which will instruct consumers how to get
a free replacement disc.

One of Lon's rarest and best portrayals as an aging Greek immigrant who enrolls
in college to earn the respect of his grown sons. LOCK-UP:

Lions
Gate Films has announced the second string of classic AIP titles from the Arkoff
Film Library, with two double-feature sets due out on April 18. THE
DAY THE WORLD ENDED: After a nuclear holocaust, survivors hole up in
a mountain cabin. Exposure to the radiation outside slowly turns people into
telepathic monsters roaming the countryside. THE SHE-CREATURE:
An evil hypnotist, Dr. Carlo Lombardi, places his lovely assistant in a trance
and raises an ancient evil from the depths of the sea in this 1950s campy horror
film. THE VIKING WOMEN AND THE SEA SERPENT: This
low-rent epic chronicles the adventures of some beautiful blonde Viking women
in "the days when the world was young, and the gods had not yet abandoned
the race of men." TEENAGE CAVEMAN: Before
he was in “The Man From U.N.C.L.E”, Robert Vaughn starred in this
intelligent quickie directed by Roger Corman in 10 days for $70,000. As the
restless son of the caveman tribe's symbol maker, Vaughn hunts for food, romances
a blonde maiden, and is warned by the elders not to venture beyond the river
to the land of the monster "that Gives Death with its Touch." There
is no word as to whether or not these will be widescreen, but we seriously doubt
it.

On
April 25, Dark Sky Films commences
its “Drive-In Double Feature” series with a double disc of two Japanese
fantasy favorites. PRINCE OF SPACE aka "Yusei
Oji" aka "Starman": When aliens from the barren rock planet Krankor
attack Earth, only the curiously-costumed Prince of Space (aka Wally the shoeshine
boy in disguise) and his trusty exhaust-spewing rocketship can save the world--
or at least Japan-- from total conquest by the evil Phantom and his beak-nosed
minions. Since conventional space weapons cannot harm the spry Prince of Space,
the Phantom engages in a kidnapping scheme involving a cadre of international
scientists. INVASION OF THE NEPTUNE MEN
aka "Uchu Kaisoku-sen": In another case of galactic conquest, clunky
metallic aliens from the planet Neptune invade Earth-- or at least a quaint
field in rural Japan-- only to have their efforts thwarted by caffeinated superhero
Space Chief (venerable action hero Sonny Chiba of KILL BILL and THE STREETFIGHTER
fame), who travels from situation to head-scratching situation in a boxy space
car when not befriending a group of geeky boys. More Drive-In Double Features
to follow!
